Best areas for student accommodation in Bristol
The right Bristol area depends on where you study, how much you value walking, and whether you want nightlife outside your door or several streets away.
Clifton
Popular with University of Bristol students, attractive and well placed for many university buildings. Expect to compare convenience against generally higher prices.
Redland and Cotham
Residential, well established student areas with good access to the University of Bristol and plenty of everyday amenities.
City centre
Strong for transport, shops and nightlife. It can work particularly well for purpose-built student accommodation, but check the actual journey to your teaching location.
For UWE students
Your campus should drive the decision. Frenchay students should compare public transport and total journey time carefully rather than assuming central Bristol is always best.
How to choose
- Check your actual campus and teaching buildings.
- Compare realistic travel time at peak hours.
- Look at late-night transport as well as the morning commute.
- Factor transport into the total monthly cost.
- Visit the area at the time of day you expect to be there most.
